Good to know: 6 things that make an Orlando trip easier

  1. Orlando is a car city: hire a car (parking at the parks is 30 USD) or use the Disney/Universal buses. You need a car for Kennedy.
  2. Summer brings 33°C, high humidity and a storm every afternoon (parks pause for 1 hour). Do rope drop in the morning, rest at the hotel pool from 13:00 to 16:00, and stay in the park in the evening. It is hurricane season.
  3. Park tickets are date-specific and online. Lightning Lane/Express Pass is worth it in the crowds; mobile ordering skips the queue.
  4. Meals in the parks cost 15-25 USD. Book restaurants 60 days ahead. Refill your water bottle (free).
  5. Tip 18-20%. Outside the parks, Mills 50 and Winter Park are local and cheap.
  6. In 7 days: 4 Disney parks plus 2-3 Universal parks. If there is a launch at Kennedy, plan around that day.
