Good to know: 6 things that make a Las Vegas trip easier
- The Strip is 7 km long. Options: the Deuce bus (8 USD for 24 hours), the monorail, or Uber (10-20 USD). You need a car for Red Rock, Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire.
- June to September hits 40-45°C: do desert trips from 07:00 to 10:00, spend the day at pools, malls and museums, and the night on the Strip. Carry water and a hat, and never leave children or pets in the car.
- The resort fee (30-50 USD per night) is not included in the hotel price. Buffets cost 60-80 USD and shows 100-150 USD; Tix4Tonight sells at half price.
- Drinks in casinos are free while you gamble. Tip 1-2 USD per drink, and 18-20% in restaurants.
- Book Sphere and O tickets weeks ahead. Red Rock scenic drive needs a timed reservation (October to May).
- Grand Canyon West is 2.5 hours away (Skywalk) and the South Rim 4.5 hours; helicopter tours cost 400+.
