Good to know: 6 things that make a Los Angeles trip easier

  1. LA is a car city, so a rental car is essential (parking 20-40 USD). The Metro B Line is useful between Hollywood and Downtown. An Uber between the coast and the city costs 20-40 USD.
  2. Summer is 28°C and dry, with morning fog on the coast (June gloom). The beaches are warmest from June to September (sea 20°C), and Universal is crowded.
  3. The Getty and the Broad are free (reservation required); Griffith is free; Universal costs 109+ USD.
  4. Tacos cost 3-5 USD (Guisados, Leo's), In-N-Out 10 USD, restaurants 30-50 USD. Tip 18-20%, and 9.5% tax is not included in the listed price.
  5. Take the DASH bus up to Griffith (the car park fills up) and arrive 1 hour before sunset.
  6. The sea is cold (18-20°C) with waves and currents, so watch for the lifeguard flags.
