Good to know: 6 things that make a Miami trip easier
- Miami is hard without a car: rent one for the Everglades and Key Biscayne, and use Uber/Lyft for South Beach, Wynwood and Little Havana; Metromover is free.
- June to November is hurricane season, with 33°C heat, humidity and an hour of rain every afternoon: swim in the morning, visit museums or malls in the afternoon, and go out in the evening.
- Cuban coffee (cafecito) costs 2 USD from a ventanita; Cuban sandwiches, croquetas and ropa vieja in Little Havana cost 15-25 USD.
- Tip 18-20% (some places add it to the bill automatically, so don't tip twice); sunbeds on beaches cost 30-50 USD.
- Sunscreen and water are essential; UV is very high at midday.
- Book your Everglades airboat tour 2-3 days ahead; alligators are most active in the morning.
