Good to know: 6 things that make a Miami trip easier
- Miami is hard without a car: rent one for the Everglades and Key Biscayne, and use Uber or Lyft for South Beach, Wynwood and Little Havana. Metromover is free.
- December to April is ideal (24°C, dry). March brings spring break crowds, Art Basel is in December, and stone crab season runs October to May.
- Cuban coffee (cafecito) from a ventanita costs 2 USD; Cuban sandwiches, croquetas and ropa vieja in Little Havana cost 15-25 USD.
- Tip 18-20% (some places add it to the bill automatically, so don't pay twice); beach loungers cost 30-50 USD.
- Sunscreen and water are essential; UV is very high at midday.
- Book Everglades airboat tours 2-3 days ahead; alligators are most active in the morning.
