Good to know: 6 things that make a Las Vegas trip easier

  1. The Strip is 7 km long. A Deuce bus 24-hour pass costs 8 USD, there's also the monorail, and Uber costs 10-20 USD. You need a car for Red Rock, Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire.
  2. October to April is ideal at 15-25°C, for desert hikes and the Grand Canyon day. Nights in December and January drop to 5°C, and New Year and CES are very crowded.
  3. The resort fee (30-50 USD per night) isn't included in the hotel price. Buffets cost 60-80 USD and shows 100-150 USD; Tix4Tonight offers half price.
  4. Drinks are free in casinos while you gamble. Tip 1-2 USD; in restaurants, 18-20%.
  5. Book Sphere and O tickets weeks ahead. Red Rock scenic drive needs a timed reservation (October to May).
  6. Grand Canyon West is 2.5 hours away (Skywalk) and the South Rim 4.5 hours; helicopter tours cost 400+ USD.
