Good to know: 6 things that make a Mykonos trip easier
- Buses (KTEL Fabrika and Old Port terminals) to the beaches cost 2 EUR; ATV or scooter 30-50 EUR; taxis are very scarce (expensive, no Uber). The airport is 4 km away.
- Summer (July-August): the party island is packed; the meltemi wind makes the northern beaches rough while the south stays calm; beach club sunbeds cost 50-200 EUR. June and September are ideal.
- Delos 12 + boat 22; taverna 20-30, beach club 60-100+, cocktail 15-20; one of Europe's most expensive islands; round up your tips.
- Delos is closed on Mondays and has no shade, so bring water and a hat; Fokos has a dirt road (ATV); Paradise and Super Paradise parties start after 16:00.
- Kopanisti (spicy cheese), louza (cured pork), kalathaki, Mykonos sandals; the Gioras bakery is 600 years old.
- Sunset: Little Venice (crowded), Armenistis (quiet), 180° bar (book ahead).
