Good to know: 6 things that make a Milan trip easier
- An ATM metro ticket costs 2.20 EUR, a day pass 7.60. The Malpensa Express from Centrale or Cadorna takes 50 minutes. The city centre is walkable.
- Book Last Supper tickets online 3 months ahead (15-minute slots). Buy the Duomo rooftop combined ticket online.
- Winter is 2-8°C and foggy. In December there is the Oh Bej! Oh Bej! market and the opening of the Scala season (7 December); January brings fashion sales. Como is quiet in winter.
- An aperitivo costs 10-15 EUR for a drink plus buffet (18:00-21:00) in Navigli. Risotto alla milanese and cotoletta cost 20-30 EUR. Coperto (cover charge) is 2-3 EUR.
- During Fashion Week (February/September) and the Salone del Mobile (April), hotels cost three times as much.
- To tip, round up the bill. Coffee standing at the bar costs 1.30 EUR, at a table 4 EUR.
