Good to know: 6 things that make an Eskişehir trip easier

  1. By high-speed train, Eskişehir is 2.5 hours from Istanbul and 1.5 hours from Ankara. The city tram (ESTRAM) goes everywhere. You need a car for the Phrygian Valley and Sivrihisar.
  2. Çibörek, balaban köfte, met helva and Tatar mantı are local specialities, and Odunpazarı is full of çibörek restaurants.
  3. Summers are hot (33°C), but the Porsuk bank stays cool. The Kent Park beach is open in summer.
  4. Odunpazarı Modern Museum is closed on Mondays. Entry is about 300 TL.
  5. It's a student city: cafes are cheap and evenings are lively.
  6. Phrygian Valley roads are dusty in summer, so set out early in the morning.
