Good to know: 6 things that make a Prague trip easier

  1. A Lítačka 24-hour ticket costs 120 CZK (tram, metro and funicular). The centre is walkable. The AE bus to the airport costs 100 CZK. Use Bolt or Uber instead of taxis.
  2. Summers are 25-30°C. Visit Charles Bridge before 7:30, book timed castle tickets, enjoy the beer gardens (Letná, Riegrovy) and go rafting in Krumlov. August is the busiest month.
  3. Beer is 50-70 CZK (cheaper than water), goulash 200-250, svíčková 250, a croissant and coffee 100. Tip 10%. A cover charge is sometimes added to the bill.
  4. Currency exchange offices often use a "0% commission" trick (bad rate). At ATMs, choose your own bank's rate. If you are offered payment in EUR, the rate is bad. You can pay by card everywhere.
  5. The main castle circuit costs 450 CZK. Josefov is closed on Saturdays. Buy online tickets for the Sedlec Bone Church (no photography). Book the Krumlov bus (RegioJet) days ahead.
  6. Trdelník is not Czech (it is Hungarian or Slovak) but it is tasty. Real Czech dishes: svíčková, vepřo knedlo zelo, smažený sýr (fried cheese), koláče (sweet pastries).
