Good to know: 6 things that make a Prague trip easier

  1. A Lítačka 24-hour ticket costs 120 CZK (tram, metro, funicular). The centre is walkable. The AE bus to the airport costs 100 CZK. Use Bolt or Uber instead of taxis.
  2. Christmas markets run in December (Old Town Square, 1 December to 6 January). Winter temperatures range from -3 to 3°C, with snow. The castle and bridge are quiet, and Kutná Hora is peaceful.
  3. Beer costs 50-70 CZK (cheaper than water), goulash 200-250, svíčková 250, croissant and coffee 100. Tip 10%. A cover charge is sometimes added to the bill.
  4. Beware of exchange offices advertising 0% commission (bad rate). At ATMs, choose your own bank's rate. If you are offered payment in EUR, the rate is poor. Cards are accepted everywhere.
  5. Castle main circuit 450 CZK. Josefov is closed on Saturdays. Book Sedlec Ossuary tickets online, no photography. Buy your Krumlov bus ticket from RegioJet days in advance.
  6. Trdelník is not Czech (Hungarian/Slovak) but it is tasty. Truly Czech dishes: svíčková, vepřo knedlo zelo, smažený sýr (fried cheese), koláče (sweet pastries).
