Good to know: 6 things that make a Phuket trip easier
- There is no public transport in Phuket. Use a scooter (licence and helmet required), Grab or a hotel taxi. Tuk-tuks are expensive, so haggle.
- November to April is dry with calm seas, so Phi Phi and Similan tours run reliably. December and January are the busiest months.
- Book boat tours online with hotel pickup included. Bring seasickness tablets and reef-safe sunscreen.
- Choose your seafood by the kilo at Rawai market; the cooking fee is charged separately per person.
- Cover shoulders and knees at temples. On Bangla Road, ask the drink price first.
- Skip elephant rides and choose ethical sanctuaries instead.
