Good to know: 6 things that make a Munich trip easier
- A day ticket on the MVV costs about 9 EUR; the S-Bahn to the airport takes 40 minutes. For Neuschwanstein, take the Bayern-Ticket (train and bus) or a tour.
- Summer temperatures are 25-30°C. Enjoy the beer gardens and the Isar, and surf at the Eisbach. Oktoberfest runs for the last 2 weeks of September (hotel prices triple).
- A Mass of beer costs 15 EUR (16+ at Oktoberfest), a Brezn 2 EUR, Schweinshaxe 20 EUR. You can bring your own food to a beer garden. When tipping, round up the bill.
- Weisswurst is eaten before noon and the skin is peeled off. Serve it with sweet mustard.
- Museums cost 1 EUR on Sundays (the Pinakothek galleries). Book Neuschwanstein tickets online weeks ahead.
- The Dachau memorial is free and open on Mondays. Be quiet and respectful.
