Good to know: 6 things that make a Barcelona trip easier

  1. Get a T-casual 10-ride metro ticket; the Aerobús from Plaça Catalunya takes 35 minutes. The city is walkable, and Montjuïc has a cable car and funicular.
  2. Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and the Picasso Museum: timed online tickets are ESSENTIAL. For the Sagrada Família, book months ahead because of the 2026 centenary.
  3. Summers are 28-32°C, with beaches and terraces. In August many local shops close for holiday; the Font Màgica runs Thursday to Sunday at 21:00.
  4. The set lunch (menú del día) costs 13-18 EUR, about half the price of dinner. Eating standing at a tapas bar is cheap; dinner starts after 21:00.
  5. Pickpocketing on the Rambla and the metro is among the worst in Europe. Keep your bag in front of you and never leave your phone on the table.
  6. Catalan and Spanish are spoken; 'bon dia' is enough. For a tip, round up the bill.
