Good to know: 6 things that make a Barcelona trip easier
- Get a T-casual 10-ride metro ticket; the Aerobús from Plaça Catalunya takes 35 minutes. The city is walkable, and Montjuïc has a cable car and funicular.
- Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, Picasso: timed online tickets are ESSENTIAL. For the Sagrada Família, book months ahead because of the 2026 centenary.
- Winter is sunny at 10-15°C with no crowds. December brings the Christmas market (Fira de Santa Llúcia), January the sales; the Font Màgica is limited in winter.
- The set lunch (menú del día) costs 13-18 EUR, about half the price of dinner. Standing at tapas bars is cheap. Dinner starts after 21:00.
- Pickpocketing on the Rambla and the metro is among the worst in Europe: keep your bag in front and never leave your phone on the table.
- Catalan and Spanish are spoken; 'bon dia' is enough. For a tip, round up the bill.
