Good to know: 6 things that make a Warsaw trip easier

  1. Trams, metro and buses: a 20-minute ticket is 3.40 PLN and a day ticket 15 PLN; use the Jakdojade app. The SKM airport train takes 20 minutes. Public transport is extensive, and trams are essential.
  2. Summer is 22-27°C; look out for Sunday Chopin concerts at Łazienki (July-September 2026), Vistula beach bars and the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days.
  3. Pierogi cost 30-40 PLN, a milk bar meal 20, the vodka museum 60, POLIN 45 and the Uprising Museum 30. Poland is good value, cards are accepted everywhere, and the tip is 10%.
  4. Free days at museums: Royal Castle on Wednesday, POLIN on Thursday, Uprising Museum on Thursday, National Museum on Tuesday. POLIN and the Uprising Museum are CLOSED on Tuesday.
  5. Milk bar (bar mleczny): take a tray, order at the counter, pay at the till; try Prasowy, Bambino and Rusałka.
  6. Try Żubrówka with apple juice, żurek (sour rye soup), bigos (hunter's stew) and pączki (doughnuts; on Fat Thursday, in February).
