- Use a T-money card for everything. The Climate Card gives 7 days of unlimited travel (~20,000 KRW). AREX to Incheon takes 45 minutes. Naver Map beats Google Maps here.
- June to August brings 30°C+ heat and the monsoon (jangma in July). Do palaces in the morning, malls and museums in the afternoon, and the Han River in the evening.
- Korean BBQ for two costs 50,000-80,000 KRW; Gwangjang street food costs 5,000-10,000 KRW. No tipping.
- Palaces close on Tuesdays (Gyeongbokgung) or Mondays (Changdeokgung). Wearing a hanbok gets you free entry.
- Take your passport on the DMZ tour and book 1-2 weeks ahead. The JSA (Panmunjom) is a separate tour and rarely available.
- Cafes are part of Seoul culture: try Seongsu, Yeonnam and Ikseon-dong. Coffee costs 5,000-7,000 KRW.
