Good to know: 6 things that make a Dublin trip easier

  1. The Leap Visitor Card costs 16 EUR for 72 hours (bus, DART, Luas); for the airport take the 747 Aircoach. The city is walkable: use the DART for Howth, St Kevin's Bus for Glendalough and a tour for Moher.
  2. Winter brings 5-8°C, darkness by 16:30 and rain. Pubs and museums (most free) fill the time, and there are Christmas markets and a December Guinness queue.
  3. A pint costs 6-9 EUR (Temple Bar 9+), fish and chips 12-15 EUR and a pub lunch 15-20 EUR. Tip 10% in restaurants, but not in pubs.
  4. Book of Kells and Guinness tickets are timed and sold online; Kilmainham Gaol sells out months ahead.
  5. For traditional music try The Cobblestone or O'Donoghue's; Temple Bar is touristy and expensive.
  6. The Cliffs of Moher day lasts 12 hours. The journey is tiring, but the views are Ireland's best.
