Good to know: 6 things that make an Abu Dhabi trip easier

  1. Taxis (Careem/Uber) are the main way to get around; buses with a Hafilat card are cheap. The E100 bus to Dubai takes 1.5 hours (25 AED). The airport is 30 minutes away.
  2. From November to March it is a perfect 22-28°C. December brings the Yas F1 race (hotels fill up), January and February suit the beach; visit the mosque at sunset.
  3. The mosque is free (registration and abaya), Louvre 63, Qasr 65, Ferrari 345, safari 250-350. Tip 10%; alcohol is served only in hotels and licensed venues.
  4. Dress: shoulders and knees covered in malls and the mosque. The mosque is closed on Friday midday and the Louvre on Monday; Ferrari World is cheaper booked online as a combo.
  5. Turkish citizens can stay 90 days without a visa; cards are accepted everywhere; the weekend is Friday and Saturday.
  6. Emirati food to try: machboos, harees, luqaimat and camel milk. Good places: Al Fanar, Meylas, Al Mrzab and Erth.
