  1. Pay for ferries, trains and buses with an Opal or contactless card; the Sunday fare cap is low. The airport train takes 20 minutes (surcharge ~17 AUD).
  2. October to April is the warm season (26-30°C from December to February); bring sunscreen for the beach, as UV is very high. The harbour fills up months ahead for New Year's Eve fireworks.
  3. Coffee culture: a flat white costs 5 AUD, brunch 25-30 AUD; fish and chips 20 AUD, a restaurant meal 40+ AUD. Tipping is not expected.
  4. Swim between the flags at beaches (rip currents); the Bondi to Coogee walk is cooler in the morning.
